Colorful Dragons by Isvoc Colorful Dragons by Isvoc
Months passed since I purchased retail version of PS CS6, so I thought it’s about time to make use of it. With all honesty, I like it much more than PS CS3 I used until now. Money well spent :)
So dragons of course. Mono dragons! 30-45 minutes each. Practice, some tests, experiments with technique and style. Happy with oucome. Because you know… sometimes you just wake up and decide “I need to draw colorful dragons for half of the day”. Right? Right!
Red and Green are my favourite, but don't say that to Obsidian and Golden, they will be sad [I still like them!].

You know, you should make some adoptables. Easy points! (Well, sort of)

I would love to be able to paint dragons but I have no idea where to start with them, you should do tutorials :)

Thank you so much ;)
I don't really believe in tutorials, so I don't have any links or things done by myself. Though, you can try make funny experiments. I absolutely adore making them in my own free time.
Basically search for animal photos. Do a bit of a drawing puzzles. How would you like your dragon to look like? Classic western one? No problem! Gather as many flying bats photos for wings, crocodiles for scales, lizards, snakes, maybe tigers for wonderful body shape and try to draw all amazing features into single creature!
Fluffy dragon on your radar? Go for big cats, bird wings, feathers :D It's all matter of practice really. Try to dump some of your own imagination to them as well! You will see how many wicked creatures you will end up with :D

Great advice thank you!
One more question.. if you were painting the full body of a dragon as well, therefore having a lot of scales on it, do you paint each scale or do you create a custom brush or is there another technique?
I have always wondered this when I see peoples dragon paintings with high detailed scales. hopefully that makes sense.
